Hope?

I have been quite ill, and I apologize to my no readers for not keeping this updated. I am in selfish-sickness mode, and have been destroying everything in my path.

I fill my life up with pictures because I have forgotten all the words.

Lay down on the Lawn

Canadian Poets are Good

Early Thaw
by Heather Cullen

The bees
tricked by sun
say yes too soon

yes

they pay dearly for it
peppered over snow.

I Like Cake

I have been very image-oriented lately...I think I have just gone brain dead...images are much easier to produce than good prose...and isn't a picture worth a thousand words, anyway?

Al Purdy

Poetry to read on a night full of moon:

Arctic Rhododendrons
By Al Purdy

They are small purple surprises
in the river's white racket
and after you've seen them
a number of times
in water-places
where their silence seems
related to river-thunder
you think of them as 'noisy flowers'
Years ago
it may have been
that lovers came this way
stopped in the outdoor hotel
to watch the water floorshow
and lying prone together
where the purge green
boils to a white heart

and the shore trembles
like a stone song
with bodies touching
flowers were their conversation
and love the sound of a colour
that lasts two weeks in August
and then dies
except for the three or four
I pressed in a letter
and sent whispering to you
